Decision intelligence

Decision intelligence is the practice of using data, models and AI to support business decisions, including the expected impact of a decision and a record of what happened afterwards.

What does decision intelligence add to reporting?

Reporting describes what happened. Decision intelligence focuses on the decision itself: which options exist, what each option is likely to cause, and how the outcome compares with what was expected. It treats decisions as something a company can record, review and improve.

What does a decision intelligence process look like?

A typical process has four steps: frame the decision and its options; gather the relevant facts, ideally from connected sources such as a knowledge graph; estimate the impact of each option, including the money impact; and record the decision so the actual impact can be measured later.

Why does recording decisions matter?

Without a record, an organization forgets why it decided something and cannot tell which decisions created value. A decision record turns individual judgment into organizational knowledge that new leaders can learn from.

How does Karnil support decision intelligence?

Karnil Advisor, part of the Karnil voice assistant, advises on decisions and records them with their measurable impact in a Decision/Value Ledger. Karnil Profit intelligence adds judgment about the money impact of decisions.
